Pretty cool/hot day :)

Today I woke up early (10am) to go to the beach with Jonny, Mark, Manny and Ashley. It was a pretty overcast morning so we weren't sure if we should go to the beach after all... but decided... "who cares if it rains... we'll get wet anyways." Lucky we said that because it turned out to be a totally beautiful day at the beach. The sun was out and it wasn't too scorching hot and the water temperature was just right. Although we weren't there for long... we all had a good time.
Then we split on the train to make our own ways home... me, Jonny and Mark got off at penno and decided to see how Josh was going... Jonny and Mark were determined to show me how good the game dota was... so I watched one game... pretty boring. But then... Josh was like... "now you play! I'll show you how!" Was scary... but I think I sorta got the hang of it. It's quite a complicated game... but can be fun... especially when you steal other people's "kills." I managed to kill a few people (boy does that sound weird) and got the hang of moving around the screen. I'm tempted to try it again... but I don't wanna be hooked like Mark and Dale!!! So many characters to learn about... so many skills and things to buy! GAH!
When I got home... had a lovely dinner... then... Top Gun was on tv... now Euge always raves on about how cool and manly that movie is... so I had low expectations. But it actually was a good movie. I liked it (I'm not sure if it was just because Tom Cruise looked kinda cute in it... or if it was the story). I guess the story was good. And you can't help but love that uplifting 80s music... especially the movie theme (man that electric guitar sounded cool!).
And now I sit here... sunburnt! I can't believe it! I put on my sunscreen! But I know I wasn't as prepared for the sun this time compared to other times... usually I put sunscreen on before I go out into the sun (like the directions on the tube say) but this time I didn't... probably washed it all off (or got burnt before I got to the beach... like on the ferry or something). You gotta love aloe vera cream.

Manny, Jonny and Mark (I told them to look like they were enjoying their food... great -.-)

Mark and Ash (ahh... I think that's a smile)

Ooooo... photos! Who can gues if it is Manny or her sister?

Mark: Is that your sister or you?
Manny: My sister
Mark: Woo I got it right

shock horror!

I just found out that my old 3/4 violin was a stradivarius copy. NO WONDER IT SOUNDED SO DAMN GOOD AND I LOVED IT SO MUCH!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE I SOLD IT. I WANT IT BACK SO BAD! Actually... I think I'll live without it... but I do still love it.

anyways... now that I have that out of my system... it's looking like bad weather for the next week... or so my mum/weather forcaster says. Supposed to go to the beach tomorrow... hope that can still happen.

I've finished reading Mark. In Mark you see all the different sides to Jesus... he really is quite a complicated man. Now I'm on to Luke. Just read about how Jesus stayed in the temple and kept his parents up for 3 days worrying about where he was. I was trying to work out if Jesus was being disobedient (and therefore not being perfect... but he must be perfect?!). I think I came to the conclusion that he wasn't being disobedient, because he says "Didn't you know I had to be in my Father's house?" Plus, Mary and Joseph may have forgotten to ask Jesus to come home with them. What are other people's thoughts?

Dad bought a digital tv set top box for us. And as usual... I was the one who had to install it. Electronic things can cause quite the dramatic scene. In the end... got the tv working... then had to try to get the dvd to work... and it's working now... but only just. I don't know why Mum and Dad always beg me to install these things... really... I know nothing!

My holiday from work has been bliss. I finished watching the first season of "Scrubs" today (took me 2 days... could have done it in one though). I also watched all the bonus material. It's good.

CHRISTMAS!

on Christmas day:

I woke up at 6.30am... in the excitement of it all... but I didn't want my parents to think I was that eager so I decided to stay in bed for another hour and then went to open presents. Jen got me a lovely scrapbook, Cler got me a beatiful new journal, Dad got me an electronic sudoku game, Mum got me my new pink violin case and I think I got other little things.

Then I went to church at 9am. It was a really lovely service. John gave an awesome talk... he's a very good story teller. There were also a group of 7 young adults from church who sang a christmas medly (of two whole songs!) and they were really good... I couldn't help smiling. Half the time I think I was laughing at Pete's deep voice... it was a good deep voice... but just humorous coming out of him! The harmonies were very sweet too.

After church... Cler dropped me home and got her present. Then after she went... moved all the junk in my house to one room... and tidied up heaps... and prepared food. Then my cousins and my aunty and uncle came over. We ate so so much! And mum was worried about not having enough food! Here was our menu:
main
roast turkey
potato bake
spaghetti and meatballs in pizza cutters bolognaise sauce
fried noodles
pumpkin, carrots and brocolli

dessert

carrot cake
orange cake
fruit cake (which never got opened)
tiramisu
fruits

We were well and truely stuffed. Oscar entertained us with his piano playing... and we basically just chatted and caught up with one another. I hadn't seen Rachel in like a year almost! Then when people went home we washed up the dishes... but it wasn't over yet!

For dinner, Wah, Linda and her parents came over. We ate all of the above... plus cheesecake and chocolate cake added to the dessert list. After all that eating mum decided that we will never have christmas lunch and dinner in the same day... way too much food. I've eaten so much turkey/chicken in the past week. The tiramisu was a big hit too... I'll have to make it again some time. We all talked after dinner too and sat in the candle light of our living room. When they left... we washed some more... and got to bed at 12... pretty good!

Today... we all woke up at 11am. Haha! We've been very lazy so far.

time to blog

I haven't really blogged in a while so I thought I should. But I'm not really sure what I'm going to blog about. Here is some random stuff which I reckon I can blab on about:

Disciplines of a Godly Woman by Barbara Hughes
- my book of the moment. I got up to the chapter on 'contentment' which I was shocked and amazed because only a few posts ago when I was talking about the book I blogged about how I struggled with contentment and a proper response to God. I wont give away any more of the book... you must all go and read it (unless you are a guy... then I would suggest that you read "Disciplines of a Godly Man" by Kent Hughes)

Pizza Cutters
- I've been working quite a few days now. There are all these new staff still coming in which makes me feel like I've been there forever... having to show the new people how to do things. I'll have to give them my new availability soon. I attempted to enroll for semester 1 next year... but one of the courses I wanted/needed to do doesn't seem to be on offer then... so I'll probably end up doing another elective. I'm not sure which ones to pick... some of them seem pretty boring (or hard). So far though... it looks like I'll be free to go to CBS and 'bob' (ask Elsie).

Christmas
- I think I've pretty much finished my Christmas shopping now (at least I don't intend to buy any more gifts). I'm gearing up for some awesome gospel messages on Christmas day. I hope the Christmas service message at church is top quality. I get anxious about these things... especially when there are going to be lots of new people and non-regulars visiting. It's such a great opportunity for the word to be shared.

Jenfafa
- today Jen came over and we hung at my place for a bit. I showed her photos that she hasn't seen yet (MYC, SLR, etc) and we both got a sudden urge for KFC. Seeing that I had dockets... we made the trek to KFC and had a tasty lunch. If only Queenie was there... she would have loved it. Jen had the new Vegetales Christmas cd in her car and we listened to it. Junior Asparagus' voice is so cute when he sings. I'm considering buying that cd... if only it was on iTunes.

:O
I forgot I was blogging... I went to the big idea website... and they had a link to vegetales on itunes... and it was there! I bought the christmas cd! it's so cute. aww that lil asparagus.

I have to run off to work now... I hope this has been an interesting post

two two fun fun days days

Yesterday Yesterday:

Got up in the morning and took the train to uni. Then walked to Randwick Coles and met Elsie
there in the freezer section... she was picking out which 'rice in a tub' was better. We shopped for food and then walked back to her house... where Jess was waiting. We quickly got out the pork crackles and m&ms and munched those up while we looked at photos and videos from NTE. There were lots of funny videos and it looked like they had a fun time. I've decided to highlight NTE on my list of things to do next year! Should be sick! Later on a couple of other girls came too (Doris, Steph, Merry, Andrea and Fiona). We had lunch together and watched Wimbeldon (I don't know how to spell it but I don't care because it was a crappy chick flick movie).

Then... when Elsie kicked us out to go to staff training... Me, Steph, Merry, Jess and Andrea met Pete who shouted us to see Casino Royale at Randwick Ritz (he had 6 free tickets). It was an alright movie... some parts were a lil painful to watch... especially for Pete. Some of the action sequences were quite good... sometimes a lil overdone... but overall... quite an ok movie. I didn't really get into the other Bond movies though. Then we all went back down to campus for CBS summer edition. We ate some tasty thai for dinner and then heard a great talk from Grimmo. I also got to talk to Grimmo for the first time which was pretty cool. His talk was on why Ministers talks are boring and why they bore us. Basically learned that the gospel is not boring at all... even after we hear it all the time... not necessarily because we learn something new from it each time we read it... but because... by the gospel and Jesus... we learn that God wants us to be like him... and that is so not boring! When that part of the evening ended... a couple of us went to coogee beach to get gelato (and pide) and we ate on the beach and some of the guys chucked a frisbee around. It was a nice night.

Then got a lift home with some people. It was me and two guys in the car... and one of the guys was talking about how he said something that he regretted sometime during the night... so I'm like... "ok do share." And he's like... nah I'll wait till you leave so it's only me and the other guy in the car... lol... MAN CHAT! Got back at 12.30am (I think).

ok... so that's one fun day down... now up to

Today Today!

Woke up early and got ready for Tash to pick me up. Then we went to Macquarie centre to catch up with the girls... half way there... got a call from Cathy saying that Cler had just woken up and that they would only be leaving Cler's house in a few minutes. So me and Tash and a bit of time to kill before we met them. So we went to Tarocash... cuz Tash wanted to get something for someone (hope that someone doesn't read this!). When we walked in... Tash went up to the sales guy and said... "I came here last week and saw a shirt and I wanted to get it" and the sales guy was like "was it the black one with stripes all over it?" And Tash was like "YES!" and I was like *woah... how did he know that?* Apparently it's been a very popular shirt and everyone has been buying it. He was quite a talker... trying to make sure we bought something... I think Tash had to order it from another store to pick up from another store. So that was that... then Cler and Cathy came... and we went to this pretty nice cafe and had breaky/brunch. We took lots of pictures of food (as asians normally do):

Now Cler is over here! She was sleeping... Cler says hi. Rotrox says hi too... he knew it!

the machine and life

I've been working quite a bit now... doing heaps and heaps of close shifts. I feel like I've been doing it forever now... don't need to keep on checking the list of things to do before close. I even had to supervise this girl who was on her second shift! Tonight I met boss no. 3... he's a quiet boss... doesn't talk much at all... but still quite friendly... and not stressful! He's funny... it wasn't a very busy night (but enough stuff to do so you weren't standing around)... and he gave out this big sigh. For some reason it seemed humorous... I'm not sure why. I missed out on seeing the bad boss last week because I had:

UNIWORKERS HALF FORMAL!!!

It was so much fun. It all started at 5pm when me and Queenie set up the switch room with lots of fairy lights and tea light candles and a Christmas tree and Christmas stockings and a reindeer. I must say I thought the place looked pretty swish... I love fairy lights. Then... people started arriving at 6.30... the theme of the night was half formal:
"The art of integrating both casual and formal attire into an intriguing ensemble. It does not refer to only dressing half your body - that would just be weird and slightly inappropriate."
Haha! Luckily everyone was fully clothed. The winner of the people's choice for best dressed was Baz (looking very much like someone from manpower) and I won the chef's wooden spoon award for best dressed. I wore a blue polo and lime jeans with a black cocktail dress on top. It didn't look that weird. I would wear it again if I had the chance. Once we got seated to our tables... we had trivia questions to complete while eating our three course meal:

Entree

Pumpkin Soup
Main
Roast Lamb or Roast Pork with Roasted vegetables
Dessert
Christmas Pudding with Custard

We also had to give tasks to other tables to complete... this was all in the hope of getting the most game points for our table in order to win some tobolerone and lindt chocolates. I think our table came second last. It's because no-one gave us tasks that were embarassing. People on the other tables had to sing and dance which was very funny. Some really good pictures (and some which are just a little disturbing). Someone send me pics so I can blog them up! (Cler... this means YOU!)

With all this fun and excitement going on in my life... my quiet times have been very very quiet (ie: non-existant) but good ole Rob reminded me today to read. I'm going through Matthew at the moment (finally some NT... you'd think I'd be more excited and be reading non stop!). Read an interesting/cool passage today... Matt 19:1-12... another good passage for anyone struggling with singleness... Jesus basically says that singleness is a gift and if you can accept it... you should for the Kingdom of Heaven... a mighty cause if you ask me.

Ok... I've been definately running on a lack of sleep. Must sleep now!

yester-bad-day

ok... so it turns out that just like Cler... I have a bad boss and a good boss.

There is the big boss... who is always stressed out... which creates a very stressful environment... which I don't work well in... which means he gets annoyed at me... which stresses me... which makes me annoy him more... which makes him more stressed = bad!
The other boss... is the younger brother of the big boss. He is a bit more laid back, less stressed, more friendly and more fun to work with. When I work with him nothing seems to go wrong at all. (Funny how the environment affects you).
I work more with the lil boss more than the big boss which is good... I only work with the big boss on Saturday (which just so happens to be the busiest and most stressful night). Oh well... hopefully I'll get through this.

So yeah... yesterday was a bad day at work which just turned my already grossly bad day into an even worse day. I came home and watched Harry Potter which cheered me a bit (Ahhh the teenage angst of Hermione, Harry and Ron).

powering on

I finished reading the Old Testament today!!! I've officially read through the Old Testament completely! I must admit that I did skim through some parts though (e.g: all the lists of names in numbers and chronicles and everywhere else). I can finally get stuck into the New Testament which I'm quite excited about. I'm 46 days behind in my reading plan... mainly because I had a huge dry spell during exams and camps and holidays... but I'm back to reading the bible daily now. Holidays are good for catching up on reading.

I'm still reading through Disciplines of a Godly Woman and it continues to challenge and teach me new things. It really is an awesome book. It's helpful because it gives good practical aplications of biblical passages. I've come to realise that I'm so undisciplined when it comes to godliness... it's going to take a while to put everything into practice. In the mean time... I think I'm going to focus on my prayer life.

I have a massive ulcer in my mouth and it's very uncomfortable. I can't eat properly without it hurting. For a couple of days I put salt on it... but I think I left it too late and it was just aggravating it. I bought some proper mouth ulcer cream which has antiseptic in it so hopefully it'll work.

I'm getting into the swing of work now. The first week I worked I had 2 shifts, then the second week I got 3 shifts, and this week I got 4 shifts. So I've been gradually eased into the machine. Most of those shifts are close shifts. I've done close shift a couple of times now and so I'm getting faster at it which has been good. Everyone at work is really friendly so that's also been a blessing. If I didn't have this job, I would have been screwed for Christmas shopping.

The weather has been crazy as. Last night it was so hot and I didn't have a fan in my room... so I chucked my quilt (which I wasn't using anyways) on the floor with my pillow and I slept on the floor (on my quilt). Was still quite warm... but cooler. Then I woke up at about 7am... and it was really cold! So half asleep I found my jacket to cover me. Gosh I make myself sound a lot like a hobo. Actually though... my back was feeling really good after that.

Hmmm... it's 3.30pm now... so I should probably start cooking dinner now before I go to work. I think I have now completely shifted my body clock.
