Gift of Singleness? You're not Serious?

"Jesus has risen, and we are called upon to live for Him in a difficult and fallen world. This does not mean that we must be single, or must get married. It does mean that we must make our decisions carefully, based on what we know to be true, not on what we are deceived into believing. Any life will have trials, but let's be realistic; is being single really that much more difficult than being married? Our work is the same: to serve God, to glorify Him and make Him known to others. The great gift of singleness is being given so many more opportunities to carry out our common goal." - Kirsten Birkett and Lois Hagger for "the Journal for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood" (2000)

I'm feeling good now after reading that. But I think I still need encouragement in being single, rather than always being asked "who do you like" etc.

Thanks. Its so very true though, Ive been thinking exactly that the past few days. God always has a plan for you, you just need to follow it and not get distracted. Just got to work out what that plan is.....

Hey Caroline!

Having married friends who are honest to you about their married relationship helps too. It helps you to see how difficult it can be. I think life will be hard married or single...until we get to heaven.

On a tangent - the minister at my old church set up this group called "Evangelical Singles for Christ"...and I was surprised to discover a picture of me on the website! Hahahahaha...can't find the link, but it was a group shot taken of the Bible study group I was in at a houseparty...but the picture's been taken down.
